Summary

To be honest, at first I was against this project. For those who know me, texting is a major step for me, so things like TWITTER and GOOGLE DOCS just seem way to involved for what they actually do. I don't like change, and am wary of technology, so this was hard for me (though some things I do subscribe to!). Thought it was an interesting way to introduce these technologies to the staff....dress down coupons and the 8 hour comp time was a nice reward! Thanks :)

CraigsList

I have used Craigslist before...I actually posted something for sale but was freaked out by the amount of people who wanted to come so quickly into my home, so gave that up quick! Anyway, looked under tickets, and almost choked on my TWIX....who would pay this much to see her (and sorry in advance if I offended any of her fans, I am entitled to my own views)?

When will Google stop!

Arghhh...did not like this (Sam I am!). Not even sure if I did it right....it kept saving and I wan't even done, and then I had to share and I don't like sharing (sorry Nick). I am a simple girl....if I can't do it in Word, then I don't wanna do it (and please don't make me!).

Wiki

Not a big fan of the Wiki as a research tool; upsides usually have downsides, and not always those who edit have the knowledge to do so.

Anyway....I viewed the Princeton BookLoversWiki and enjoyed it. Found some titles that I am going to look into for myself...one being "The Accidental" by Ali Smith (under Staff reviews).

Very visual. Very pretty. Pretty Wiki, me likey.

New Feeds (still trying to understand old feeds?!?!?!)

Okay....went to Technorati and was hoping that Hans (The Technorati Tutorial guide) could help me; however I could not hear him over the horrible muzac playing in the background. Even without the music, I think I would have still had a problem with his English.

Anyway, searched for a blog (Just Jared...just more gossip)to add to my feeds and now it is nestled in the orange square at the top of my computer....oh, and subscribed to it in my Google Reader....no thanks to Hans.

Our Library's feeds fed me Snopes (yum)

I am not sure how patrons in the Adult realm of the library world will utilize the feeds from our page; other attemps to bring them UTD haven't taken off strongly. Having the feeds however from a Librarian point of view is handy in the case of newsworthy reference questions; we won't have to "leave" the catalog to jump onto CNN (or to Snopes for that matter, we do get some weird questions and have used it in the past :))

RSS

One place to get all my juice celeb gossip, and perhaps outscoop Knelly.....Love it. People, US Weekly, TMZ, E! Online, PopSugar, and Perez Hilton will keep me up-to-date as to much needed stories such as these:

Prince Harry to Undergo Sensitivity Training
Mandy Moore Gets Engaged!
A-Roid Runs Back To His Ex-Wife's Arms

Suffolk Wave (Wave Goodbye)

Call me computer challenged, or technologically phobic....I don't care. I enjoy the feel and the smell (well, not always :))of a true, bound book. I actually had assistance from a co-worker (High Five K. Carter!) with this module as it didn't work for me yesterday, but magically did today. I downloaded "In Search of our Roots; How 19 Extraordinary African Americans Reclaimed Their Past". Not because I wanted to hear it, but because I was so frustrated that I choose the first thing I saw. I understand it, and am all for it if it gets people to read, and use the library. But me...I will check out a tangible read thank you; perhaps even use the self checkout. How's that for advanced :)

Flickr

Here is the photo I liked: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rlionberger/2932590659/

Flickr is a cool site and easy to use. As for making my own account, ah....no thanks; I like my privacy :)

Sparkle, Neely. Sparkle!

Ah, Valley of the Dolls. Great Book. Even better movie! Thanks YouTube!

Libraries could use YouTube as training videos for employment and for programming purposes. It's limitless :)

LibraryThing, I think maybe I could like you :)

This was alot of fun....however, will have to return at a later date to play around as I have many other modules to complete :) I only added three books, and as a librarian and reader I should have probably added more, but the ones I did add, I would highly recommend over and over and.......

Isn't it Delicious?

Out of all the new technologies we have been looking at, I can truly see the benefit of Delicious. It is an excellent resource for research assistance, hence, a great tool for libraries and librarians. And with a name like Delicious, it has to be good :)

Myspace and Facebook...oh my!

99 fans on Facebook isn't bad! (that was the total as of 2/4/09 1:07pm)

Teen is always so creative! I enjoyed the slide feature of the "Some books we Like!". Made it like a game and games are always fun :)

LibraryLink on the general MySpace is a great tool (especially since I worked on that project in the beginning....nice to see the fruits of your labor!) :)

I think I am a TWITTER Doofus

http://twitter.com/home?page=18

(Latest: Got Cheese? The library is looking into having a cheese making program in the Summer. Look for it in our newsletter :) 7 minutes ago)

Above is the link to the item I posted on TWITTER. The text in the parenthesis is what I wrote. I think I put it in the wrong spot, so if I did...I totally apologize!

Blog it!

There is a bit of frustration in that title above; had a hard time finding a "unique" blog name. I was looking for something catchy, but ended up with Library Jenn...it's who I am and what I do so it works :)
